On July 20, 2016, I woke up feeling like shamoo. I was 39 weeks pregnant and I knew today was going to be the day my baby girl was born. Really though, I was scheduled to show up at the hospital at 10:00am. We found out at 36 weeks that our baby was breech and if she didn’t flip, we would need to have a c section. Sure enough my little buddha stayed head up. I was so nervous all morning. To prove it, when they hooked me up to the heart rate monitor my heart rate was 120bpm. My daughters birth was nothing like the stories I had read on this app. There was no surprises and it wasn’t a natural delivery. When we got to the hospital everything went the way it was supposed to. I got hooked up to an IV, filled out paperwork, got cleaned off, etc. Around noon, they took me back with out my husband. I was alone and even more scared. However things were much easier than I thought they would be. The spinal block was pretty much painless and by the time my legs went numb, the shade went up and my husband was in the operating room. It was time to begin. I could feel everything, just without the pain. When my baby girl was out you could hear a ton of amniotic fluid hit the ground and I was able to breath for the first time in months! My eyes followed my baby girl as they took her over to get her weighed and everything else. Finally, they put her on my chest where I just stared into her eyes in disbelief. I could not believe that beautiful baby looking back at me was mine.
