Done with Christianity, now what?
For those of you who grew up in the Christian church, you know Christians (and probably members of other religions, I don't know) revolve EVERYTHING around their religion. All decisions, motives, intentions, they all come back to God and his "plan".
Well. I grew up in the church. My family is one of those families that brings everything back to Christ. The problem is, I'm not a Christian anymore- but they don't know that.
I no longer make decisions based off of the Bible and what it says to do, my intentions are still pure and I have high morals, but not because a higher being says I have to have pure intentions and high morals. See, my decisions may be similar to my family's decisions, but the reason behind it is very different now. They don't know I'm not a Christian, and I guess I just need help not feeling totally isolated from them now that I've secretly turned away from the church.
For those of you who have turned away from your religion, can you help me with that and a few other things?
What do I do now? I've always been taught to pray and meditate when something bad happens or I'm stressed, but now I don't do that. What do I turn to when I need to calm down?
How do I connect with something spiritually? While I don't believe in all the stuff the Bible says, I certainly believe we have some sort of spiritual element to us, how do I tap into that?
Please no mean words, and please don't try to talk me into being a Christian again. I've made my decision and I need support in that decision.
Thank you
