is it normal for 14 y/os to shave down there?

I would love to hear from teens and parents of teens and young adults or whoever wants to answer. 
I'm 14 and I've always been self conscious about my hair "down there", whether it be sticking out from my underwear to being seen through shorts to just being there. i always change in the corner of the locker room and I know that a lot of my friends wear thongs but dont shave, and a lot of my friends wear thongs and i don't know if they shave or not. I bought new undies today and decided to give thongs a try but my pubic hair was too full and long not to show, so I took a razor down there and got the job done (not all the way, but most of the area is like a baby's bum). now that it's gone I'm more self conscious of it than before, i don't know if it is normal for girls of my age to shave down there and I'm worried that I'll get shit for it. help !!!

Sweetheart let me tell you a phrase that you should keep with you for the rest of your life. Normal is what's normal for you. Do what makes you comfortable. But realize that whether you shave or not, you're one of a kind and a beautiful young lady.

I think you should maybe get a razor that doubles as a bikini trimmer, or a trimmer in general. Shaving can not only be irritating to the skin, but also can cause ingrown hair and infections, depending on the skin type. I use a trimmer to keep my hair in check. It helps me to feel natural and clean, by keeping the hair short, and I shave the edges of my bikini line to clean it up.

Normal is whatever works for you.
Comfortable is most important.

It is very normal Hun. I probably started to about that age if not earlier! There's nothing wrong or shameful about shaving or having body hair. It's about what you are comfortable doing and what you feel is best. It is your body after all.

I started shaving my bikini line in high school because I didn't like my hair sticking out of my underwear. I find shaving your whole vagina to be a little too sexualized... like, adult women have hair down there for a reason. I think men who like women hairless may have issues with wanting their women to seem more juvenile, which is gross/creepy/wrong. Ten years later after first starting shaving my groin and I still feel that way. Then again, I pretty much avoid shaving at all costs cuz I hate it so much (except for my pits since they're quick and easy). Winter is my favorite time of year 😉 and my husband thankfully doesn't mind having a hairy wife.

I just did my bikini line. I didn't shave it all off. Not sure what's 'normal' but if you are feeling uncomfortable for both maybe just try that!?

I shaved when I was your age for the same reasons. Razor bumps were my next issue. Baby oil instead of shaving cream fixed that problem but make sure you get it all off with soap and water after you're done.
