help! does this sound like the beginning of labor?

I'm 39 weeks and 5 days, during the night I woke up to achy type pains in my low pelvic region. At first I chalked it up to the baby moving because she's so low when she moves her head around it gives me shooting pains in my crotch area.  But I've noticed contractions here and there now and an ache like I'm starting my period. I got up, ate a banana and drank some water but the period ache (low abdomen and low back) are still there. No bloody shows or anything like that yet but still seem to be having non rithmic contractions approx every 20 min or so. Also on your experience if you've also had this how long did it take you to need to head to the hospital.  Ftm
