Hemorrhoids!!! Help!

I'm 26, I've had hemorrhoid problems since I was a senior in high school. First they were internal but through time they've become external. When they're not prolapsed, you can still see them but they don't bother me until have a hard bowel movement then that's when they hurt and purtude. What should I do? Should I get them removed? Is it possible for them to go away on there own? It's been this long so idk. Any advice would be great!
