Will you be piercing your daughter's ears?

Question

If you are, what age will you have it done at? For me, I don't believe I am. Though they look adorable, I don't want to put her through pain or scare her for my own preferences. I'd rather her ask me when she's older if she can get them done instead if/when it's her choice. What are you all doing? No judgment here. Just waiting to see some other opinions.

I am anti body modifications for my children. These are their bodies and their choices to make. While puercings arent like circumcision and costemic surgery in that the holes can close...they leave a small scarring. I know i have 6 holes in my ears 4 of which i did myself. 4 of which i myself wanted. 2 holes that my mom did when i was about 5 closed up and i got them redone then got another 2 on 1 ear when i was older. My daughter may not want earrings ever. Plus even if she does its a big thing making a permanent decision ( even if it can "close up" and pretty much be reversed except for a small scar) and its nice to have her make that decision for herself. Also iv real all piercers hate piercing babies, their ears grow and often enough it ends up lopsided or not in the exact right place after babies ears grow. Next a friend had her baby fully tear her ear because babies dont ubderstand whats there and xan try to rup them out. Plus i want her to learn with her decisions come responsibility...so cleaning aroubd so it diesnt get infected and turning them. There are alot more reasona but the main one is really its not my body to make a choice even if the potential harm would be minor.

I'll wait for her to decide when she wants it done. My boyfriend's daughter got her ears pierced as a baby. They bothered her so badly and she use to yank at them and even now if her mom (she's not my biological daughter) puts earrings in she cries or yanks them till she gets them off.

When they ask, I'll start considering it. I got mine done for my 6th birthday, it was a good age, in my opinion. I was old enough to take care of them myself (with parental supervision) and such an exciting day going to pick out earrings and get them done. I cried for a couple minutes when it happened (my mom has a great picture) but then I got over it and went on my merry way with sparkly pink earrings.

my 8 year old daughter got hers pierced at 1 month old and ive had mine since i was 2 months.. mainly it was easier to make sure they were cleaned regularly and healed properly .. we hardly ever wear earrings and they dont  close up as fast..

When I was a baby I had my ears pierced but they got taken out (pretty sure they got infected). When I was old enough I made the decision myself to get them pierced again. Obviously I do not remember them being pierced, nor did I mind, not did my infection negatively effect my health. I don't personally think I would get my daughter's ears pierced, but I don't think it is cruel for a parent to do that. And I know some compare it other piercings or some even tattoos or other extreme things but to me all modifications are  different and the ear lobe isn't dangerous.

My husband won't let me pierce my 7yr olds (I'm not bio mom). Cuz he's scared of infections and stuff.

Also some of these moms who will flip if you talk about piercing their daughters ears but will not think twice about cutting of parts of their sons oragns. Ok

Yes. Whenever I have a little girl, I will pierce her ears at three months old. My mom did the same to me, and by the time I was 3 years old I was a total tomboy, and my mom could only ever force me to wear earrings on special occasions (lol). But boy, was I ever thankful some years later when everyone was going out and getting their ears pierced and I finally wanted to be a girlie girl, my ears were pierced and long, long healed-over. ;)
