Period Came During Sex - New Relationship

I've just started having sex/dating this guy I'm my university program. We had a really great time this evening that ended up tuning into sex. No issues the first few times we did it but suddenly mid way through my period started. Is this a big deal to happen so early on? He was super cool and mature about it and we showed up together to get clean but I still feel pretty awkward 😞 I know it's not my fault but I'm worried that it kinda ruined the evening.
