Are Braxton hicks supposed to hurt?

I'm 34+1 FTM and think I'm feeling Braxton hicks there irregular and quite painful, my stomach goes hard and I feel strong period type pain, then it stops and doesn't happen again till hour later. I googled Braxton hicks and there supposed to be painless! Quite worried any advice would be great

I've been having them since 24 weeks, and at this point they have become pretty painful. I'm 36 weeks now.

Not necessarily sometimes they are breath taking. It depends on the pain tolerance and so on. My first two kids they hurt like hell this one they feel like light period cramps.
