Dumb question??

We are on a pretty strict budget (college students), but someone gave us a crib! Yay! We have it set up in our room, right next to our bed. Is there any reason our baby can't sleep there right away? We don't have a bassinet and our bed is too small to fit one of those co-sleeper things. The crib just seems so big for such a tiny baby! I'm sorry if this is a dumb question - I'm just a nervous first time mom and the due date is fast approaching :o
