if I'm already crazy will birth control make it worse or better 😫

so I'm 18 and want to start birth control soon (probably just pill form) but I'm worried about the effects it will have on me. I already am legit crAzy throughout most of my cycle (PMSing is the worst though) like crazy emotions, always crying, anxious, stressed, even hot flashes. Most of this is blamed on hormonal imbalance, So I'm wondering would the added hormones in birth control make all this worse or possibly balance my hormones and make me more stable? any ideas?
