PreWash Baby Clothes in Sensitive Detergent necessary?

Question

Is it really necessary to wash your baby clothes in Dreft or sensitive laundry detergent before he/she wears it? Let's be honest- your child will lay across your clothing or hubby's which is washed in regular detergent so is it truly necessary?

I always have used the same detergent with my kids and my stuff. Never had an issue.

Yes it is! We use all free and clear bc hubby has sensitive skin

Yes, their skin is sensitive. It hasn't been exposed to chemicals and babies tend to get rashes easily

We had to switch to All free and clear for all our clothing after our first was born. Even laying on me with my clothes washed in normal detergent would give her an awful rash. It ended up being so much easier to buy 1 kind of laundry soap for everyone so I'm okay with it. It did suck at first though, because I had to re-wash every item of clothing, all blankets and towels for fear she'd come in contact with them and breakout. But now I'm totally ready for the next kiddo assuming she has a similar allergy.

I just use all free and clear.... works well for my cloth diapers and all our clothes in general. I usually add essential oils to put a good smell back in em.

My son has eczema and his skin was extremely sensitive when he was an infant. I used dye free detergent and used receiving blankets whenever I held baby or when others held him to prevent baby from coming in contact with our clothing. You can always start off using free and clear/ baby detergents  until you determine how sensitive your baby's skin is. I wish you the best mama!

I use free and clear detergent for myself.  I plan on using babyganics detergent to wash all the baby stuff only because I have so many free samples. If I like it I may continue to use it.  If not I'll use the free and clear for babies things too.  Makes it easier to just use one thing.

I've been walking all of her stuff in baby detergent then the plan is to switch to our detergent for continued washes. I figured that way if she had a reaction to our detergent I wouldn't have to rewash everything. My husband has really sensitive skin so I'm assuming she'll be ok with what we use on our clothes.

Good question! I actually washed all my baby's clothes in regular detergent so let's see I guess when she's born I'll see if she gets any allergic reaction and if she does then I'll re wash it all drift detergent

I use tide free and clear for all our stuff I was using drift with hers but she broke out from it so I washed it in tide scented pods like I do her dads an mines she broke out so now I just use tide free and clear she has no problem
