Not allowing felons to vote is just a modern day remnant of Jim Crow laws. It negatively affects black males more than any other group of population. I forget the statistic, but a large percentAge of black adult males are not allowed to vote for the rest of their lives because of this law (which varies from state to state). And that leaves that group severely underrepresented.

Yes, they are still citizens and are affected by the legislation and policies implemented by officials who are elected. I don't see any harm in restoring their voting rights. I definitely agree that restriction leads to underrepresentation amongst minority populations who are mostly affected in this area.

Considering our legal system is SHIT and many people are unlawfully and disgusting overcharged I think that once they have fulfilled the requirements of their sentence their rights should be restored when it comes to voting. It's just another racist loophole to be honest.

In Vermont they are still allowed to vote even while incarcerated. In Texas, felons are allowed to vote after they finish parole or probation.

My fiancé and I said it depends on what their felony is. Someone like a murderer who would love to see people harmed- no. Someone in for drugs or stuff like that- sure.
