Is it bad to buy used car seats ??

I bought a used car seat stroller combo from a children's resale shop . Its very nice . Looks new . but I'm regretting it because I've seen that you shouldn't? So looks like I'll be going out and buying a brand new set just to be on the safe side . What are yall opinions on this ?

I wouldn't unless I knew the person. My car was just in an accident. So many people have told me to just sell my car seat rather than throw it out since it "looks fine". Um no. I'll cut the straps and throw it out thanks.

It shouldn't be expired and it can't have previously been in an accident. 
But other than that people do it all the time.

I think a car seat is something that needs to be brought new, unless you know who previously owned it and know the history

Definitely don't use a used car seat it's more than just accidents, recalls, and expiration, it's about how it was cared for also... like we're the straps ever washed in anything other than water? Thing alike that, that make it unsafe.

You can buy used. But you want to buy from someone you trust. You want to make sure it isn't expired, haven't been in an accident and the straps haven't been washed. I always think about it as, would I trust the person I'm buying from with my child's life? If the answer isn't yes I move on. Maybe resale and buy new instead?

Would you trust that seat from a person you don't know with your baby's life? I get it money is tight but getting a new set or even a seat that will go with that stroller is way easier than you think. If that seat was in a accident of ANY sort than it has been compromised and needs to be burned. There are organizations that will give you a car seat brand new!!! Don't let a good price put your baby's life in danger. Now if you personally knew the person and trusted them and heck yeah!!! You hit a lick lol! But this isn't the case. On Facebook there is a group 'carseat for littles' check it out you will learn so much. I'm on my third and I'm still learning new stuff bc things are always changing sweetie!!

Check to make sure it wasn't recalled and ask if it was ever in an accident. If both are no you should be fine. I would assume resale shops would have to check those things before they can sell it anyway.

Thank you for yalls opinions. I was unaware of all these things with car seats but I'm so glad I asked and did some research on the matter . Definitely will be purchasing a new set this week.  I'd rather not risk it 👌
