Should I have a baby shower?

I know it's sounds crazy but I've never had a baby shower before and this is my 4th child and I'm wondering should I have one me and my fiancé been together for 3 years he has one child from a pass relationship but it didn't work out and he didn't get to Experience the pregnancy or the birth but he's a great father he wants to have a baby shower but I'm not very close to my family and I feel it'll  just be embarrassing for me to be there with just his family so my question is should I put myself through this baby shower for him because he's really excited or should I say hello no

To my understanding, it's traditional only to have a shower for your first, and is considered in poor taste to do so for future children.  It's compared to having a bridal shower and asking for wedding gifts for multiple marriages.  But, of course, that's just tradition.  Times change and everyone does what they feel is appropriate for themselves. 
That being said, if you feel that he deserves a baby shower, I think you should throw him one!  That way, you won't be throwing yourself a party and be there alone, you'll be hosting a party for him (and his family).  Which is thoughtful and amazing.

This is my second and nobody threw me a shower for our first. If you can- do it!

I didn't have one for my 2nd pregnancy and most likely won't have one for this, my third and last pregnancy....
