Anyone had success stories with castor oil?

Even if it was a small dosage? I'm really considering on using it because I am so afraid of getting induced. Please no harsh comments!

I did it with my two previous pregnancies and it worked. No horror story. I want to take it so bad this time. Today is my due date. But I can't force myself. That stuff is sooooo gross!!!!!!

The two people I know in real life that used it caused them to poop. One was pooping in the back seat while her husband drove her to the hospital (but it worked). The other it just made her poop for 8 hours and didn't bring the baby.

Castor oil will make you have bowel movements, sometimes severe diarrhea, and abdominal cramping which can initiate uterine contractions. However, it can do the same to your baby. If baby has a bowel movement in utero he/she can inhale the meconium and get quite sick. To me, it isn't worth the risk, but talk to your care provider if you're thinking about trying it. They might give the go ahead if you're getting close to 42 weeks. Good luck!

Castor oil is most likely going to put your baby into distress and they could possibly swallow some meconium. Don't do it. It'll also dehydrate you and cause you to cramp and have diarrhea.
