question!

My mom says since my fiancé have his two kids and my daughter that we can't have a baby shower if we got pregnant. I never had a baby shower with my first one and my fiancé never had a baby shower for his two kids either. My thought was once baby was born throw an introduction party so family can come meet your new addition to the family and if you need small stuff like diapers, wipes, bottles and blankets create a registry as an option. I know a lot of my family feels rude to go to something like that without a small gift. And honestly it's not about the gifts just about letting family be able to come meet the new baby. Any opinions or suggestions about this? My mom seems to think you shouldn't do stuff like this
