I don't grow armpit hair?

I'm 17 years old. I've already gone through puberty for the most part, if not entirely. I'm a dark brunette (naturally) so my leg hair, pubic, arm and facial hair comes in super dark and super fast. I've been shaving my legs since I was 13. But I have NEVER grown armpit hair. I have a habit of checking every time I shower and never see or feel anything. It's always crazy smooth. I've even shaved my armpits just to see if they shaved any hair off and they didn't. Should I be concerned? Is this normal? Do any other girls deal with this? My best friend is a natural light brunette and gets in crazy amounts of dark armpit hair if she doesn't shave. I just don't know how common this is. Thanks!

No, that's actually really similar to me. I have dark brown hair and my armpits and pubic hair are all dark but I don't get leg hair.

First off, puberty doesn't end until your early twenties, the changes get more and more subtle so it's hard to tell you're still growing.

Secondly, it's a genetic thing. My mother has absolutely no hair around her body except her pubes and armpits, so her arms and legs are super smooth, where as my dad is the opposite, he's hairy all over, like a bear. I was lucky to get my mothers skin and hair growth, so I don't need to worry about shaving anything. Even my armpits get the tiniest little stubble. Where as my brother got my dads genes and is super hairy, needs to constantly shave and trim.

Thirdly, hormones do play into it as well, if you have more estrogen in your body you're more likely to lose hair, and if you have more testosterone you're more likely to grow more hair. Things like pcos, birth control, other hormonal treatments, diet, pregnancy, etc can affect hair growth.
