Not yet vaccinated newborn and holiday visitors?

I think there are a few late Sept and early Oct mommys on a similar vaccine schedule as we are. My newborn is just 3 weeks old. He isn't ready for his vaccines until his 2 months peds visit in Dec.

We are planning to visit baby's grandparents for thanksgiving. That's where all of my husband's extended family lives too. So I am antipicating a lot of random relatives coming over to meet him.

How are you suppose to handle that and an unvaccinated baby? Also I'm worried about whooping cough too. Everyone in my household has received the shot but I can't say the same for the random relatives that would be visiting. Do we limit the visitors or just not let them touch or hold our baby?

I prefer not letting many people handle my baby in the first month.  Now in his second month, I've slowly let more people see and hold him.  I'm not comfortable with baby meeting lots of people all at once until he's 3 months.  I may be wrong, but I recall being told that if a baby has a fever under 3 months of age, it's serious enough that it's recommended to go to the hospital.

The whole point in a vaccination programme is it reduces risk to the population who can't be vaccinated. Your absolutely fine. My baby went to hospital to visit my regular patients and work friends. She was 2 weeks. She has been everywhere and visited everyone. Her brother even had hand foot and mouth and she's not been ill.

I'm not really letting anyone besides close family hold my 3-week-old for a while, and I'm not afraid to say it's because I'm overprotective and want to keep her away from germs. I've had people laugh but no one has been offended. Most people are understanding, and it's your child so they have no choice but to respect your wishes. 
I also baby wear, which helps!

I would say limit, I asked my doctor about unvaccinated people visiting, what he said was adults as long as they are not showing ANY signs of sickness should be fine because they have had time for antibodies to build up. But if they have even a cough best to not have them around little one. No toddlers if they have not been vaccinated though, and if the unvaccinated parent has a unvaccinated child or a sick child then it's better to avoid.

Let just the close ppl hold the baby and if you get nervous, go "feed" the baby in the other room or just wear your baby and make up an excuse for that👌🏻😍. Yourbaby will be close to you and no one will try to hug, touch,kiss baby! That's what I do!

It's perfectly fine, my baby has been out and about with me since she was 5 days old.. mommy has errands and stuff to do too! It's good to build baby's immune system and get fresh air and be introduced to different people. Just be careful if anyone has the flu or a cold etc obviously.

Just don't let randoms hold baby. Or keep him in another room when they visit.
