I feel bad for men ➡ a rant

Mi

I really do! We as a society have completely set them up to fail. We have such high expectations for them, in terms of providing for their families and having high end jobs and being hardworkerrs and being masculine. Then, at the same time, we expect them to be the very worst. As soon as a man screws up, we say, "saw that coming." If I had a dollar for everytime I saw someone post something alone the lines of, "we should just let men be men, because they're all liars anyway", I'd be filthy rich. Countless women have told me that my husband is a liar, because he tells me that he doesn't watch pornography. Do you realize that expecting the very worst from men is only cultivating rape culture? Do you realize that women objectify men just as much as we are objectified? Women aren't the only ones who look in the mirror and suck in their stomach or flex. Men do it too. We can tell men to go out and get jobs and be the provider, but if someone were to tell a woman to stay at home and take care of the children, every woman would be up in arms. The double standard here blows my mind, it really does. I don't often speak up on the behalf of women, only because we have so many doing that already. But the men don't have a voice, because no one wants to speak up for them.

Thoughts?

*edit, because a lot of you seem to think that I'm saying that women don't have issues, or that they do but men have more. If you read it carefully, you'll see that I never said that. They both have issues, but men rarely speak out about theirs. I'm not discrediting women's or men' issues at all here. ***And when I say they don't have a voice, I mean regarding men's body positivity and objectification of men.***
