Advanced Maternal Age & Induction?

Question

Any other AMA first time moms having a convo with their OB about inducing early? No reason other than being AMA? Just had this dropped on my at my last appointment, OB wants to induce between 38 and 39 weeks because I'm AMA (37 yo). Not sure what I think of this. Curious to know other ladies thoughts

I think it does not have to do with age, most of the doctors say risk gets higer post 40 weeks is same for everyone.

Hmmm I was 37 at my first daughter's birth and she was born on due date. Induction had been planned for 41 weeks. I'll be 38 for my second daughter's birth and the only reason I'm delivering at 39 weeks is because it's a scheduled c-section. (First birth was after a 36 hour labor plus emergency c-section and I just don't want to go through it again.) There was never a discussion about early induction due to my age. Ever.

Where I am, AMA starts at 40

Hmmm. According to her, there is an increase in risk of fetal demise (stillborn) starting at 40 weeks delivery for AMA moms. Did some googling, it seems to be a 1% increased risk. So her protocol is to offer/reccomend induction between 38 and 39 weeks. I asked this question on a another board and no one's OB has had a similar concern yet either. Kind of weirding me out now that it's not super common. She's a great OB, been really happy with everything so far. Hmmm.

Im 36, a FTM,  and was referred to a perinatal dr also for extra ultrasounds but never was it mentioned to me about inducing early. If everything is going fine, did they give you a reason?

I literally get pregnant on my 35th bday weekend and considered high risk. 
They have done a lot of extra ultrasound and I took a panorama test for abnormalities... Everything with little mister is great. I have a scheduled c section 1 week earlier.

That's interesting. At the hospital I'm employed by we don't really consider AMA until 40+. I'd be weary as well if you're having an otherwise healthy pregnancy

No ones said anything to me either and I'll be 40 by the time I'm due

My doc hasn't mentioned anything about that and I'm 36 yrs old
