what do you do if your newborn only feeds on one side for 10-15 minutes?

Do you try your best to arouse for other side? Let him sleep? Change his or her diaper? Any other alerting ideas? Mine will frequently feed for less than 15, is not woken up and then wakes up withinn an hour later to feed againMaking it very hard- for mom to get sleep! Advice and suggestions please!

That's about standard for newborns. I pretty much fed extra during the day (like every forty minutes) and in return got to sleep for three hours in a row maybe three times at night. They have itty bitty tummies and are still getting used to the sensation of hunger.

Feed, then change diper then try other side. He doesn't always take it but sometimes does. Xx

Cluster feeding is totally normal in the new born stage so it will feel like you're constantly nursing. You should try to keep him awake during feedings by rubbing his feet/back, Undressing him down to his diaper (I would put a light blanket over him), getting a cool damp cloth and touching his back/face with it and make sure to burp him when he comes off the breast and then switch sides.
