Kiss or Miss? (Update)

My ex is back and it's complicated.

The story:

On May 27, 2015 my boyfriend of two years broke up with me for the reason of needing more drama and being unable to stand the distance of 800miles any longer. We ended on good terms overall, but he ended up disappearing within a month after the breakup. From this point on, I had to learn how to go through my day without him. 😭

A year later (almost exact 😒) he came back because he missed talking to 'his best friend' and we continued talking from there. This was last April. Some time in early August he got a new girlfriend and they were together for two months before she broke it off. Now it is October and we have been broken up for a year and a half...and he tells me he still loves me 💖🔥💖

Of course, I return the feelings. However, there is still the matter of distance and he says he doesn't want to fuck up again. How can we work it out when he can't come here for over another year?

Should I wait because we still have mutual feelings?

Update:

We continued talking from that point, and it's now official! We are back in a relationship and as happy as can be, save the slight struggle with distance. 💞 He plans to tell his parents this next week, and mine just found out at the end of last month. Wish us luck!
