Dogs or Cats with a baby (which is easier)?

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats and sadly think we have to downsize over the winter since we have a baby on the way. We are trying to get it down to 3 max. What is your experience with multiple pets and a baby? Please comment.

Ugh.. my biggest pet peeve. Animals are not disposable because you choose to have a child. There are so many animals dying in shelters. I know this changes nothing because people never seem to care but it's so frustrating. I made the choice to get my two dogs, cat and hamster and I will always care for them, even if it gets tough.

I know a lot of people who continue to have a lot of pets after the baby. I would always keep my fur babies and I have dogs. Just be careful with any animal around a baby. Cats have been known to smother infants. I'm not saying all pets are like that, just scares me and makes me be more cautious! Good luck. xx

I have 5 pets ! & they're all super friendly with my babe! They all always wanna sniff him & be by him. Our 2 dogs always protect him.  Rex our doberman is the most protectant over him. They warmed up to him really quickly as well. My son Kyrie is very observant with them too. He watches them at all times.  It's amazing 😍

We have 4 cats and 4 dogs and don't plan on rehoming any of them when baby comes in March. I'm confident that they will all warm up to baby and behave correctly.

If you are considering surrendering your pets, you should talk to a rescue group or find a responsible, loving home. Unfortunately, there are animals that end up in a shelter, and never make it out.
But it is possible, with patience, consistency, and your pets being trained also helps You to understand Them better

Well, i disagree with disposing of animals because you have a baby or move. But since you asked, in my opinion cats are easier. They dont have to be excersised or played with or given any attention really. As long as their food and water is full, they do their own thing. So i would say they are much easier than dogs.

I only have 1 cat and had 2 dogs, we rehome 1 of our dogs due to being ignorant, and never stopped barking. But we coped pretty well with the animals and baby, the cat actually helped my son to learn how to crawl as he would try to follow the cat around when the cat was inside the cats never scratched the baby even when they play she never uses her claws just her paws, and the dog is very protective and loving of our son, if our son is crying the dog will go up and see if hes okay, or rolls around in the grass with him or lays down next to him while my son plays hes even good when my son climbs all over him (although i dont allow that to happen and take my son off the dog-- poor dog haha!)

Cats are usually easier as they will just wanna lay and rub on the baby. Just be sure the baby can breathe fine. As for dogs they're a little more active and can jump on them as well as smother them. Honestly it depends on how your pets are. I had a friend with a rambunctious untrained dog and now a newborn and everyone thinks they're insane. But hey they trust the animal.! As for me I have two cats and they are calm and keep to themselves so I have no worries at all. 🙂

We had 2 dogs and a cat before my daughter was born. Unfortunately we had to re-home one of our dogs. He was a German Sheppard and great but he was and hyper and our house is small and our yard isn't fenced in so he was never able to get enough energy out. We felt bad having him coupes up all the time. Anyway... our other dog, a beagle, was amazing with our daughter from day one. Our cat was my husbands before we met. He's an outdoor cat and pretty mean so he's not allowed near my daughter at all.
