what happens in hospital after c section?

I asked this question a few week ago about what happens after labor but now I'm on the track for a c section because of a breeched baby. (Before you comment I did take a tour of the hospital.. I'm looking for personal stories)

Anyway, after c section... what should I expect? we're you wheeled to a room right away and did you stay in the hospital gown for a few hours after?

I'm re-packing my bags... just making sure I have everything I will need.

Some hospitals are different. Some will takr you back to a recovery room then move you to your room later and some take you back directly to your room. I stayed in my gown for 24 hours because I had the catheter in. Once you get up and moving, they will take it out and they want you up and moving within 24 hours.

I stayed in my gown all 4 days. I was not allowed to put a bra on the entire time, which was very annoying. They gave me the mesh undies to wear (and some take home!). Bring some socks with grippies if you have them. My hospital provided me with some, but they were a little big. BRING PILLOWS. I REPEAT: BRING PILLOWS. Hospital pillows suck ass. I had two sturdy pillows that I brought just because I thought I'd need them for my head. Turns out, I needed them for my back. Getting in and out of bed was horrible because of the incision. The pillows helped keep me propped up. I did not sleep laying down for the two weeks following my C. Hope this helps a little bit!

I was brought into the recovery room for about 1-2 hours. Then I was brought to the NICU to see my baby for a little bit and then taken to my room. C section was over around 10:30 pm so it was late when I got back to my room. I stayed in my gown until morning when I took a shower. Then I put on my own comfy clothes and hospital underwear

I was wheeled into my room and stayed in a hospital gown (the gown was changed after my c-section ofcourse), and I was able to get some skin to skin contact with my son before he was taken to the nursery for a little bit after my family toke their pictures and videos of him for 10 minutes. The next few days I pretty much stayed in my hospital gown until I was able to bend over and get on a pair of fluffy pajama pants, as well as a robe. This was the easiest thing for me to breastfeed in but from my sister's c-section she stayed in scrubs, a robe, and/or a nursing shirt and pajama pants with comfy slip resistant slippers from home. We both wore sweat pants/yoga pants for our trip home along with a nursing shirt. Bring lots of underwear that would be close to your normal (non-pregnant) size, and nursing bras are best since trying to snap a regular bra on sore breasts (regardless of breast feeding) hurts and sports bras can be more work. The nursing staff encouraged me to walk around about 24 to 48 hours after my c-section to begin recovery. And bring non-scented toiletries that your comfortable with to wash your hair and body wash.
