Co-Sleeping, anyone?

Question

Are there any mommas out their who co-sleep or are planning on co-sleeping? Do you start from the minute you bring them home and when do you stop? And to anyone who may feel the need to reprimand the co-sleepers and tell them how dangerous it is, save it. This post is for them, not you. This will NOT turn into a debate 👌🏼

My husband and I co-slept with our daughter for the first month and a half. I never had the fear that I was going to roll over on her, but my heavy sleeping husband likes to toss so I kept her on my side with a pillow near the edge and her closest to me. 
We decided to put her in her crib after a while because honestly it was nice to cuddle with my husband again. She took right to it. Mind you, she needed to be asleep first but she did alright and now she's sleeping through the night.

I will be honest, all the stories of co-sleeping scared me. But my mother (who is an RN of 20 years) told me that every case of co-sleeping death she has ever dealt with was with mothers who were medicating (self or prescribed) or who were under the influence of alcohol or other drugs and did not follow safe co-sleeping practices. 
It's a personal choice and if it's right for you and your family, by all means snuggle your little one. (Especially if you're breast feeding! Nothing better than breakfast in bed for the little one while you catch a few more zzz's).

We cosleep with our son. He started off in a rock and sleeper next to the bed and I'd get up and nurse him all night. That got old fast and he ended up in our bed. I had him on my side since husband moves a lot and didn't want him between us. As he got bigger he went between us. He's almost 2 and still finds his way to our bed around dawn and I love it! I love snuggling him. Cosleeping helps you get more sleep, is more comforting for baby and has actually been proven to reduce SIDs. Laying next to mom the baby's breathing tends to take on and keep moms breathing rhythm. 
We plan to do the same with our second in a few weeks!

We occasionally take a nap together in my bed but she always sleeps next to our bed at night. This past week we were on vacation and I had to share a bed with her. She def prefers her rock n play at night. She's been an all night sleeper since 10 weeks and the week of vacation she was up 1-2 times a night. She's 4 months old btw. I also just read a newspaper article from our town that a 4 month old was suffocated by her mom while sleeping on the couch together. She's now on trial. I believe everyone can make their own decision as its their child but it is something that can actually happen so our choice not to co-sleep was an easy one.

I had a csection so we've been cosleeping from the very beginning. My daughter either sleeps between us or at my side. It all just depends. I don't roll through the night at all unless I actually wake up completely and turn over because I know where she's at. It works perfectly for us and all 3 of us get better sleep at night. We're currently living in a small bedroom at my boyfriend's mom's house so we don't have a crib for her. Just a rock n play and a bouncer and I don't really like the idea of either of those being used for sleeping at nights; just for naps.

I'm doing the halo bassinet, just bc I cherish my relationship with my husband and don't want the huge doc a tot in between us. I will do the halo from the day she is born until she out grows it. I know I am going to just love snuggling with her in bed and the halo is great because the wall folds down and you can roll them right onto the bed with you, but they still have their own separate space. We will definitely take naps and sleep directly in the bed together. Probably until she sleeps through the night for a solid 6-8 hours.

I co slept from the day i brought them home with my 1st 2. I plan on cosleeping with this one also. Still cosleep most of the time. They will sleep in their own beds if we put then there but i prefer to cuddle with them so i usually put them in my bed.  They are 3 and 6.

I've had csections so baby always slept with me from the beginning because it was easier to breast feed that way.. Getting up and down was extremely painful the first few weeks. My first slept with me until about 1 1/2-2 years old. She never slept in a crib and I transitioned her over to a toddler bed next to my bed and she had no problems.

My second is currently 2, will be three in January and refuses to sleep anywhere else but with me and my husband. We have tried everything and she just isn't ready. We really don't mind, I find that I actually sleep better when she snuggles up with me. We are expecting in February, so whether or not she is ready she will be getting the boot. Lol. I've heard stories of people rolling over babies and this and that but I wouldn't have done it/do it if I knew I was a crazy sleeper. Everyone has their own opinion, co-sleeping was personally a choice I made that I thought best for my family and I. Don't let anyone ridicule you for decisions you make concerning your child.

I co slept with both my daughters who are now 10 and 4, but with this baby i cant see myself doing it again. My 4 year old doesnt want to leave my bed. I even get so lonely when she doesnt sleep with me lol. Im not a heavy sleeper so it started naturally as soon as i came home from the hospital and it worked for me but i think im going to have baby # 3 sleep in her sleeper as long as i can before, or even introducing her to my bed!

I plan to do-sleep but I want something that connects to my side of the bed. I don't actually want the baby right next to me just because of the possible dangers.

I didn't intend to, but didn't plan not to either. It just came natural to us. It was the only way either of us got sleep. my daughter is now 2.5 and still sleeps with us, we have her in the crib beside us still. She's a wild sleeper, lol so sleeping between us was just painful once she started getting bigger. I brought the crib back in, took the side off and pushed our bed up against it so it was like an extension of our bed. We really enjoy it. I work away for a week at a time, so my husband likes having her in the bed and I enjoy having our whole family in bed together. Not sure what's going to happen when baby #2 comes. My daughter has her own bed, so we may let her still fall asleep with us but then transition her over in the night. We will just do whatever works I guess!
