Help: Birth Control

I'm 28 years old and ive never used birth control. I have an appt next week with Planned Parenthood to get on it. Is there anything that won't mess up my cycle? I'm regular as hell and im going on a trip 2 weeks later with my out of town boyfriend and I don't want any surprises!
