membrane sweep

So I'm 39 weeks 1 day, I am 1 cm dilated and 40% effaced and baby is at -3 station (although I don't know what that means haha). My midwife just stripped my membranes so I'm hoping to see some progress soon!

Any of you had your membranes swept? How dilated were you and was it affective?
