When should I tell my employer?

Hi everyone
I'm pregnant with my third and currently work as a dental assistant in an office that uses nitrous. I found out 3 days ago that I was pregnant and am wondering when would be a good time to tell my boss? My boyfriend says to wait but I think with the risk of being around nitrous I should tell him sooner. Thoughts anyone?

I work in an or around anesthetic gases (like nitrous) and flouroscope (radiation). I told my work the next week and the entire staff had to be informed very quickly in order to keep my baby and I safe. I wasn't terribly comfortable telling them so early, but I really had no choice. I knew if something happened with the pregnancy, they would be understanding. Because nitrous is known to cause birth defects, I really, really would urge you to let your employer know soon.

I would probably tell them sooner than later. That way they know and you guys can figure things out.
