ultrasound and drinking water??

I've always heard you need to drink a lot before an ultrasound. I'm 18wks today and go Thursday to find out boy or girl.

My provider didn't say anything about drinking water so I called and they told me to just come comfortably. Eat/drink whatever I want before hand. 
Is that normal now??

At my 20 week scan, my bladder was bursting in the ultrasound. She told me I could go pee because at 20 weeks you don't need a full bladder to see baby well. Only the 12 weeks scan😊

By 18 weeks you should be ok. Still drink some as it makes the image clearer but you don't need a full bladder. I advise a bottle of water.

Yea depending how far long u are and also the office it may not be necessary to have a complete full bladder. Just drink a bottle or glass of water and make sure u eat.

You only need to drink the water early on so your bladder is full and it pushes your uterus up. The further along you are it's very uncomfortable to have a full bladder bc they are pushing on it a lot!

I had to drink a lot when I was in the hospital at 7w3d and they did a transvaginal and a normal ultrasound but when I went to my obgyn for my first ultrasound at 8w1d they didn't tell me anything about drinking water before hand.

I just always try to go with a full bladder to be safe.  It's easier to empty quickly than to fill quickly!

I always go to my appointments with a full bladder because they always take urine samples and sometimes they ask for a full bladder to push my uterus out for a better scan. However,  for my anatomy scan,  they didn't say anything about a full bladder,  and when I got there,  I was asked to empty my bladder before the scan.  They did both abdominal and vaginal ultrasounds that day.

Drinking water helps when your early. Later in pregnancy there's no need. The baby is large enough to see good.
