coconut oil as nipple cream

i have fairly sensitive skin and have only used the same 3 products for years because of it. how affective is coconut oil for chapped nipples during breast feeding? im worried the oil wont be thick enough to work but im scared to try and use a new product on an area that's already sensitive. i currently use nivea lotions and dove body wash in addition to coconut oil. are either of those comparable to a nipple butter or cream?
