Best pain relief in labor?

Question

Would you say having a full epidural on my first pregnancy when in labor is best for me? I don't want to feel any pain at all, not even the contractions of I can help it.

Is it normally good to have it done ?

Answer

It's best to wait until you are at 5 or 6cm to get an epidural to reduce your risk of complications or having the epidural slow down or stall your labor, so you will most likely feel some contractions. If you get it the second you have contractions, you just won't progress.
