Baby speak two languages ?

Question

I've always been gutted that when I was young I wasn't taught another language aside from English and I did ask for it. 
Now with my sons dad being Hispanic I'm wondering if I should just teach my son or get him Spanish lessons once he's old enough so when he is in his teens he will have more options for himself being able to speak fluently in two different languages

What are your opinions ?
Has anyone else done this ?

My babies are mix with Hispanic and my baby father parents can only speak Spanish. It's better to have them start young so when they are older it will look good on there job applications.

My friend's son is half Mexican, they only spoke Spanish at his mother's home, but spoke English at pre school & everywhere else. When he was about 3 he would speak Spanglish but by 5 was able to to know who to speak what language to. Even strangers! Occasionally he would use one Spanish word (usually a noun) when talking about something. His Father knew some Spanish & would speak short sentences to him. Little man even taught me a few words! I think it'd be great to raise him speaking both, he'll sort it out later. I read bilingual kids do better in school & academically, also socially b/c they automatically identify most situations 2 different ways.

Although I'm no where close to fluent or with any Spanish speaking background (other then school) I plan to teach my son as many words as I know.

No harm in starting spanish early. And when he's older if he still needs help, then get him lessons.

If the father speaks spanish most like he will automatically pick it up. Unless the dad exclusively speaks english as well and hardly ever spanish. If so then yeah i would say get the kid lessons if you want him to have that extra help/ quality.

Why not raise him bilingual? My son is due in December and he'll be half German, half African American and he's gonna be raised bilingual. It's easy actually. One parents speaks to the child in only one language and the other parents only speaks the other language

Teaching your child two languages is a great idea! Do not wait until he is older, start integrating it as soon as you start teaching him English. Kids brains process language differently than adults. They don't know they are learning two different languages, they just know they are learning! He will learn to differentiate the two later on. He will pick up both much easier if you start now
