breakup

Right, so basically this evening my long term boyfriend broke up with me and I quote "because he doesn't want a relationship and I don't give him the attention he wants". I understand he doesn't want me, I can come to terms with that but he said he wants to remain close friends like still meet up etc but I can't handle the idea of him talking to girls whilst I'm just the friend. Please help I can't decide whether or not to stick it out or tell him I cant
