why isn't there a standardized glucose test ??

Why isn't the rules for glucose screening is not standard all over ?? My first OB told me to fast and I passed that one. Second time I was told to eat and I ate carb heavy breakfast and failed miserably and ended up sitting in 3 hour test. This doctor told me to eat normally (3rd time pregnant). Well I don't eat anything until 9am as I take my thyroid meds and I can only go at 7:30 am or so for the test. Isn't it stupid that this test does not have a general rule everywhere. What if I had one boiled egg before going. I know I will obviously pass and it's still cheating.

So for anyone who has a glucose test in the near future, schedule a morning appointment and fast before for an accurate result the first time.

I was just told to eat normally. I even had an prep mcflurry right before my test and I still passed lol

My first one I was told I did not have to fast and I failed it.  I now have to do a 2 hour test and was told to have a consistent diet for 3 days prior and nothing to eat after midnight the night before.  It's a little frustrating - I feel like why don't they just do that from the beginning!

My doctor told me not to eat, she said if I was the type of person that absolutely had to eat when I wake up that I could have a little bit of eggs and I should be okay. She scheduled mine for early morning to try and avoid me from eating, I didn't eat or drink anything but water and I passed.

I agree with this. My doctor told me to eat before the one hour and I failed. The lab tech told me I should've fasted. I'm doing my 3 hour right now and I hope I pass

Eating that one egg isnt cheating because the 1 hour glucose test is performed on the premise that we dont know where your sugar is at. Its done because everyone has different habits and its supposed to test your specific eating habits. The 3 hour test is more controlled (fasting blood sugar and the after the drink blood sugar levels) because eating habits dont matter as much, its more about how your body handles a set amount of sugar after starting at its base number.

My exact same question. I ate before my test it was at 1:30 pm so yeah I was hungry lol this is my 3rd pregnancy and I failed by 2 points and I had to sit for the three hour test. My first two was done early in the morning so I didn't eat and I passed. They told me I shouldn't eat two hours before the test 🙄🙄
