It's a gender theory based on what side of the uterus that the placenta implants on.

If on an abdominal it is left aligned or is a boy, right aligned it is a girl. I don't give any credence to it because supposedly the guy who can up with it believes the gender of a child can change in utero, which we know is scientifically impossible.  However, my husband and zinthought we would have a girl; week 16 u/s showed a left aligned placenta, and we found out week 19 we are having a boy.  There are 50/50 odds, so I think it's a coincidence.
