iron supplements??? advice please!

Is anyone taking iron supplements? I just found out i have low platelets and low himoglobin and went and bought these pills at walgreens I'm wondering if they are ok to take??

I have extremely low iron, too. Just found out at 35 weeks. I have until 39 weeks (when I'll be induced) to get my iron Up. My doctor told me to get that bottle and take two a day, one during the morning and one at night. Here are some tips to help your body absorb the iron better.
1.Take each pill with OJ or Emergen-c packet (a packet mixed with water with loads of vitamin C). Vit C helps the iron absorb
2.Don't take your iron too closely with your prenatal. I take my prenatal during my lunch time now
3.Don't take your iron with big meals, just a smaller snack. Big meals make it harder to absorb the iron
4. Avoid these foods 1hr before and 2hrs after taking your ironCheese and yogurtEggsMilkSpinachTea or coffeeWhole-grain breads and cereals and bran 
5. You will get the best iron with iron-rich foods! So eat those along with your iron and you should be good!

They look good to me. I'm vegan so my midwife was initially scary I was low on iron  (which I wasnt) but taught me a lot about it.

Eating oranges with the pill will help it absorb better in your system, take at night if they are causing a little bit of an upset stomach and don't be alarmed if (tmi) your poop is really dark green or brown. If you do get sick from them start with a lower dose and work your way up to that.
