I've had the implant rod since February but my boyfriend finishes in me 3-5 times a week, sometimes even more than that. Do you think it's necessary to take a pregnancy test every other month just to be sure?

The chances of pregnancy are unlikely, but at the same time it doesn't really hurt to test frequently. Do you have your period while on birth control or not? If you don't have it, it might relieve some stress about possibly being pregnant. If you haven't gotten pregnant on it yet then it might be a good indicator that the birth control is working effectively, so it's also okay to hold off on testing unless you start having pregnancy symptoms.

Essentially, there is nothing wrong with frequent testing, and if you feel like you get anxious about pregnancy, you should test if that makes you feel more comfortable. You can also double up on protection if you want, like using spermicide. Just make sure you or your partners genitalia don't get irritated from spermicide if you decide to start using it.
