Waterbirth/Other birthing options

Casey
I don't want to have a traditional lay on your back in a hospital bed birth. I also want to try to be as natural as possible as long as it can allow. The nearest place that offers waterbirth is an hour and 20 min away. Is that too far? Also, what are some experiences you have had with waterbirth? Other natural pain relief for labor pains? Do hospitals allow you to labor in a bathtub to help relieve pain? First time mama so lots of questions 😊

You can find a homebirth midwife and then absolutely birth in a pool!

Birthing ball, affirmations, breathing, dancing/swaying, stretching, compresses, massages, low moans instead of screams...I've been doing a lot of reading and I will be going to birthing classes that focus on an all natural birth and pain management, but these are techniques I know for a fact I'll be using. I think the best advice I've heard yet that I'm clinging to (I'm a FTM preparing for an all natural birth) is to remember: birth is not something that happens to you, it's something you do. You're birthing a child. You have to have an active mindset, you and your body is what's in control.

Talk to your hospital. I too want a natural birth not on my back. Although my local hospital doesn't have birthing tubs, you can birth in the shower, on a bouncy ball, lying in different positions on the bed and more.
