breastfeeding & alcohol ?!

Okay so I'm sure a lot of moms besides me have planned on a night out with some strong drinks after baby is here & mom heals right? I plan to breastfeed I'm hearing everything you eat drink or even do pretty much effects your milk lol. So what are the rules on breastfeeding & alcohol. How long do you wait? pump & dump? First time mom so anything helps !

It's actually been proven that very little alcohol crosses the blood/milk boarder. Don't black out, but pumping and dumping has been shown to do zero. Make good choices and baby will be fine.

Second time mom here. In my own opinion, and experience... Feed or pump right before you go out. I wouldn't suggest getting completely wasted because the alcohol will still be in your milk in the morning, but having a few drinks and a water in between is fine. When you get home pump both boobs and freeze the milk, just label it. Not to feed baby with but you can use it for a milk bath for baby if he/she has eczema or baby acne. And drink tons of water after. 
But again, with that said I wouldn't suggest getting super drunk. But, to be on the safe side, have a couple bottles ready on stand by in the fridge just in case you do go past your limit for night time and morning feedings.

My ex friend used to pump as much as she could out so her baby had clean milk then after she drank, she'd pump and dump for a day. I don't think it's a good idea to breastfeed with alcohol in your system. That's like giving a baby whatever you drank.

Agree with previous post.. However, some stores sell test strips to test breastmilk for alcohol if you really want to make sure..

My OB said a couple of glasses of wine is fine, as long as you don't get drunk. No need to dump. I usually have a medium sized glass after I feed, then wait a couple of hours if I want another

If you're planning a night out with lots of drinks then just make sure you have enough expressed milk to cover feeds until the morning. If your milk supply is established you can get away with not pumping for 1 night unless you get too engorged in which case you'll be unconfortable. If you do pump when you're over the limit then dump it. If you're sober enough to drive then your milk is good.
