After 39 weeks is hit, many doctors will induce upon request. It depends on your hospital and doctor.

Some do but most do not. Baby hasnt come usually because they are not ready. Plus most doctors give a due date based off of last month period which could be as much as a week off of when you ovulated so they could be inducing when in reality you at 38 weeks. Plus there are risks and issues with ibduction and many end in c sections. Plus if baby isnt ready they may have initial breathing issues or other problems. Doctors usually wait till due date but dont want you to go over 42weeks though that can be normal too. From what i see most induce by 41w1d

It depends on your doctor's policy. My OB won't induce before 39 weeks except for medical reasons and if you go over, she'll see you at 41w and schedule an induction for the following week.

All doctors different and If it's your first, then they are less likely to induce prior to 40w. But it seems fairly common for a mom on her 2nd+ baby to be induced at 39 w. I know several people who had a larger 1st baby, so chose induction at 39w with their 2nd.
