Taking a three year old hunting?

My friends husband recently took her little one hunting on opening day for deer. I want to hear your opinions on it! She is absolutely furious and I don't blame her! Do you think he should've told his wife before just taking him and going and her finding out on Facebook? Or do you think it's perfectly fine? She is thankful to God nothing happened to her little one, but so mad because her little one was put into a dangerous situation.
