Hypnobirthing?

Question

I'm really considering looking further into doing Hypnobirthing, it sounds like such a happy positive experience when I hear about it, as opposed to the usual birthing traumas you hear. I was wondering whether any of you have used Hypnobirthing techniques or considered it at all and if so I'd love to know your thoughts! 😊

Following as I'm considering it too - have been to a couple of yoga sessions so far where the teacher is a doula and also offers hypnobirthing and she includes some of it in the class and it seems great! I'm so nervous about birth I'm considering trying to get an elective c section but this is my back up plan!

I had intentions, we were doing the home hypnobabies course and had a 2 page birth plan. That pretty much all went out the window when my OB accidentally broke my water at my 41 week appt. Ended up having to be induced, was only at a 3-4 after 13 hours of labor, ended up getting the epidural soon after so I could sleep. I'm glad I did since my labor/delivery ended up being 36 hrs with 3 1/2 hours of pushing, and I believe would have ended up with a c-section without it. I wasn't able to do immediate skin to skin because she was born with the cord around her neck and I hemmoraged so was taken to the OR. It was at least 30 minutes before I was stabilized and could see or hold her. Still feel a little cheated, but am very grateful we both came out of it alive and healthy. So many other things happened that weren't in my plan either. So, I do recommend hypnobabies, it probably helped me some, but just keep an open mind it may not go according to the very all natural hypnobabies plan.

I listened to hypnobaby at home, didn't do an actual course. I was aiming for a water birth at a birthing center. My labor ended up being 32 hours long. They tried to induce me naturally first (Cook catheter and castor oil) because I was 42 weeks and would therefore risk out of the birthing center. So that got me to 5cm and labor stopped. So eventually I needed pitocin at the hospital. I still was able to have my son naturally with no other drugs but pitocin. It was HARD but I think hypnobaby affirmations I learned helped sooooo much. Especially in trying to relax during each "wave." Good luck to you!
