Normal to go past due date when "normal"?

Question

Ok, a little backround.. this is my first pregnancy, 38w6d today! It's a boy. Prior to getting pregnant I have the "normal" 28 day cycle, also "normal" ovulation. Tracked my ovulation to be certain and got pregnant first try.. due date it Nov. 18th!
At 36w6d I was 1cm dialated, 40% effaced
37w5d 1cm 50% effaced
38w5d (yesterday) STILL 1cm, 60% effaced. 
I haven't had ANY bleeding or real discomfort after being checked. Yesterday I was a little crampy down there, but she said she tried to "start stripping" my membranes to get things moving along, which was pretty uncomfortable but like I said STILL nothing. She said if I haven't progressed by the 17th she'll schedule to induce me the 22nd.. 
SO. what I am asking is, is it normal to NOT  have any bleeding/lose my mucus plug yet?
Also, how many of you were in the "normal cycle" category and delivered AFTER your due date?! I know I still have a week but I felt a little discouraged, not progressing. I know every person and pregnancy is different but I am just curious! Thanks for any answers ladies!!!

I have a normal cycle, have given birth 2 times, never lost my mucus plug or had bleeding prior to labor and gave birth at 40w6 with #1 and 40w with #2. I know it can be discouraging that nothing is happening but you really can't control it. Your baby is probably just not ready yet and that's ok. I'm choosing not to even have a cervix check until I'm 39 weeks with this next baby because in the past I would get all stressed out that nothing was happening down there at each appointment and would put all this pressure on myself to dilate when really, I have no control over it. So I don't even want to know this time and believe it will happen when it needs to happen. Also, with my first, I didn't dilate at all until labor actually started. Some people stay closed until the real deal begins and that's ok!

If you don't want to induced so early, you absolutely don't have to! Most OBs will "let you" go to 41 weeks at a minimum, some will go to 42 weeks, even. The risks of a late term pregnancy can all be monitored with fetal non stress tests so really, you could go all the way to 42 weeks and if your doctor will monitor you instead of inducing you, still be able to deliver a perfectly healthy baby without induction. Don't be afraid to ask for what you want!

I'm pretty sure the normalcy of your cycle has no effect on when you go into labor. The little rugrats come out when they're ready.

It is normal. My last pregnancy I had no signs at all until I started contracting. Never had a bloody show, mucus plug show, never even had my water break until Dr did it.

I've delivered 3 babies past 40 weeks and I have a normal 28 day cycle, track ovulation and know exactly when I got pregnant. My second baby was 12 days over! 
I wonder why your doctor is pushing you along already? You still have 2 weeks. Don't rush things.

I had similar dialation and effacement at those times, but I did get up to 3 cm. I ended up being overdue. My dr offered me 2 induction dates, one for 4 or 5 days after my due date and one for 9 days after. I went with the 9 days after date. I still had to be induced but I felt better about it bc I felt like I had given baby time to come on his own and he didn't. I hope your little one doesn't make you wait like mine did!

Full term is 40weeks and I came two days before I was due. There is no rush on the baby coming out so long as mum and baby are healthy.
