Does your child clean up their own toys?

My daughter is 3 years old, she'll be 4 in February. We keep her toys in the living room, I clean up the same mess 3/4 times a day. Blocks, crayons, puzzles, princess figurines, it's never ending. She cleans up when I ask her but complains that "it's boring" lol what age is it okay to put the toys in their room? She has her own room with just a bed... I'm tired of my living room being a mess!!

I'm a nanny and I teach kids from as early as 1 yr old that they clean up the toys they play with. To make it less overwhelming I have a rule that before they play with something new, they have to clean up whatever toy they were playing with before taking something new out. Of course sometimes they might need help putting some things away but for the most part "if you can take it out to play with it, you can clean it up" the two girls now are 3yrs old and know my rule well

i tell my son to pick up his toys and put them away and he does, hes 16 months now, been doing it since he was 13 or 14 months, some times he just does it on his own

We have had toys in my son's room since he first had a room. He doesn't really tend to clean them up but sometimes he will spontaneously (he 2 1/2).

My daughter is 11 months and she always picks the toys up that I put on her mat for her and puts them back in the bin if I leave it there lol.

My 15mth old cleans up her own toys with a little encouragement. We sing a clean up song and i show her where everything goes. My 6yr old on the other hand throws a fit when I ask him to clean up. That's my fault though cuz I always cleaned up after him and didn't make him do it. I'm not making that mistake with my daughter.

My nephew always had his toys in the living room and in his bedroom when he played with the ones in the living room at the end of the day we made a game out of it and when he turned 3 he was obsessed with making auntie happy so I just said if he cleaned up it would make auntie happy... now he never makes a big mess he always cleans up as he goes 😊
