Putting baby down to sleep.... How do you breastfeeding moms do this?

How are you putting baby down to sleep?  We have a 5 week old. We did a bath at 9pm, swaddled him, put on white noise machine and turned off lights (we have one small night light on) he's been nursing (breastfeeding) in and out of sleep since 9:30pm... It is now 11:38pm. I tried putting him down twice in the cosleeper bed, and he is now crying and fussing. I'm tired and had to wake my husband up to take him. Anyone have any tips of how they put their baby down for sleep?? Especially those moms who breastfeed. I'm worried that I'm creating a bad habit of nursing him to sleep 😭😭😩😩

Babies this young don't have bad habits so don't worry about that.
And wanting to nurse and be held is normal too.

I find that i'm most successful being able to lie my daughter down when she's not in REM sleep and has home completely limp. Try not to disturb baby when you put him down...try to keep arms near body so startle reflex doesn't kick in and wake him up.

Also, you could try warming his sleeping surface.

Our little man is 5 weeks old too. We read a book called Sleep Sense, by Dana Obleman and it's changed our life. It stressed the importance of a baby learning how to fall asleep on their own. Babies have shorter sleep cycles than adults, so if they know how to fall asleep on their own they don't need to rely on you to put them back to sleep. Don't worry-it's not a cry it out method. If they cry in their crib, you pick them up and comfort them, then put them back down while they are awake but calm. We only started last weekend. The first night he slept basically the same amount he would have otherwise. The next night he slep for 5.5 hours straight. Now he is consistently sleeping 8-10 hours straight, wakes up to eat and then sleeps for another 1-2 hours. He also is napping longer and more consistently throughout the day. He isn't "fussy" at all anymore. We realized he was actually just so tired all the time. It's honestly changed our lives. I can't explain how nice it is to finally sleep normally again!

Nurse him to sleep if that works! I'm on baby #3 and take it from me. Don't worry about starting bad habits. He won't go to school being nursed to sleep! Do what works!

Breastfed babies eat more times then formula fed, my son who is now 5 was breastfed sometimes I couldn't get 10 minutes to myself the beginning is hard they nurse so much and they just want to feel your warmth and hear you, that's all they've known anything away is scary to them, they are eating cause they are growing and regulating the milk supply my baby is almost 3 weeks old and she is the same! There is no schedule to eat just have to feed her when she shows hunger signs. It's really hard at first but trust me it gets so easy as time passes. Breast milk flows easier threw their digestive tract which is so tiny by the way that it goes right threw them. Definitely easier if you keep the bed closer to you so you don't have to be walking back and forth all night

Our evening routine is bath around 7, eat, then sleep. Baby is usually asleep around 9. Then I stay awake until about 10:30-11 because she wakes up to eat again. Then she sleeps from about 11:30 to 4:30. Some nights this isn't even close to what we do. Are you sure your baby wants to nurse though?? Make sure you're interpreting the cry correctly. It could be gas bothering her or reflux. My baby would begin to cry soon after feeding her and I thought she was still hungry at first but then I realized it was her tummy hurting her.

I have a 5 week old boy and for the last few weeks around 10-11ish we put on white noise, dim the lights and swaddle him. I feed him in my rocker and by the end of the feeding he is sleeping. I rock him just a little longer after his feeding and then I put him in his bassinet. He will sleep in his bassinet for 2-3 hours and as the night goes on he just wants to be held so I eventually sleep with him on my chest and nurse him in bed and we both get sleep that way.

I do pretty much same as you, my little guy is 3 weeks old I bath him at 8 then get him dressed cuddle him and get his bottle prepared, I read him a story while he chills out on me then I lay him in his bed at 9 he stays there till 3 then wakes for a feed and change

This was at 3 o clock this morning  the pictures were taken. when I put him to bed at 9 he falls asleep him self but when I put him in at 3 after his fed I hold his hand and he falls asleep with in second and stays there till 8 in morning

He could have silent reflux. I would look up the signs. 
You could also try a pacifier if that's okay with you, so mommies don't want to. 
Maybe try a sound soother or a vibrating machine.

I swaddle then nurse and hold her till she is asleep then put her down. She most of the time will fall asleep when she is done right away

I wish i could nurse to sleep unfortunately my baby has reflux and i have to sit her up to burp her after she eats and that wakes her up
