is he asking me out or asking to hang?

Ok so I've never been asked out before and I met this guy at camp this summer and he's been msging first (a first for me) about a few times a week and we hung out a lot at camp along with this other girl who I'm really going friends with at my school and yeah I just wanna know if he's asking me out on a date or asking me just to hang because this is the first time a guy has ever said something like this to me.
