Short home labor and birth

Gwen
Baby number 2 was supposed to be a November baby. But he arrived on Oct 29th. He had dropped a week before and I was definitely feeling ready. One of my midwives checked me the evening before and I was 4cm dilated. I have an irritable uterus and had been having Braxton hicks since like 15 weeks. So when I got up that morning I felt the same as I had been for awhile. Crampy and uncomfortable. My SO really wanted to get a deer this year so he headed out hunting at about 8 that morning after I told him I felt the same as usual. He usually calls to check in while he's hunting and he wasn't planning on going that far away so i wasn't worried. Well at quarter after 9AM my water broke while I poured my daughter's cereal. I called my SO and he didn't answer so I texted him come home my water broke. Then I called my midwives and my mom. She lives a few hours away but was going to watch my daughter, and hopped in the shower thinking I had time. But by the time I got out of the shower the contractions were coming hard and fast. I called my SO again a few times. No answer. I called the midwives again and they hurried over. I called a friend to come get my daughter because I realized my mom wasnt going to make it. By the time the midwives got to the house I couldn't move so they finished making up the bed and started filling the birthing pool. Meanwhile my friend arrived to get my daughter just in time, because I was fighting the urge to push. it was only 1030 AM. More calls to my SO. As soon as my daughter was out the door my midwives moved me to my room and after a half hour of pushing my baby boy was here. 6 pounds 12 oz of cuteness. I was in labor for only an hour and 45 minutes! The pool finally got filled up once he was born so baby and I got to take a relaxing soak. And at noon my SO finally called. His first words were your water broke? I'm coming home! I said yeah and he's here. Poor guy missed his son being born because he wandered out of cell service. He was going to catch him and cut the cord. Instead I got too .. thank god for my midwives.
