Pros and cons of breastfeeding?

Looking for tips and info from other mommas on breastfeeding :)

Pros: breast is best!  It will always be the exact nutrients your baby needs. No bottles, no clean up. Always the right temp and never anything to bring with you if you go anywhere (besides a cover if you wish). reduces allergies later in child's life. Helps mom lose weight. Super good for bonding and getting special time with your baby. Lots of resources are avaliable (like lactation consultants, which are free to see at hospitals, or often there are local support groups, which helps you meet new moms!) I'll be honest. The throw up and poop is MUCH easier to deal with.  Plus it's easier for baby to digest.
Cons: you can't give your boobs to someone else. That means YOU and only you are in charge of feeding baby (awesome sometimes to have something only you can do, other times, you just wanna sleep more!) If you want to work you'll have to pump (which is okay, but I personally did not enjoy AT ALL) Pumping means extra stuff to clean up (but not much more than formula feeding)  some women struggle to keep a good supply, and often without support end up giving up long before they want to. Other cons would be leaking sometimes (not horrible, but still not fun...I used to leak when I had sex even..) you gotta watch what you drink when you nurse (no booze if you're gonna feed baby!)
Those are just the pros and cons off the top of my head.
Personally I don't see any harm in at least trying to nurse. If it's not for you you can always quit, but really, it's so great!  My son was born tongue tired and it was HARD to nurse (blood blisters and all) but once it was cut I was SO happy I kept at it. I think having a good support system made a huge difference!  That being said once I quit nursing I def felt judged by other moms and I hated that they judged me without knowing how sad I was to quit (my supply died at 5 months outta no where).  Do what's best for you and your family! :)

I am a FTM but also a pediatric nurse and the daughter of an ob nurse who is also a lactation consultant. In my opinion your body makes breast milk for a reason and that milk is tailor made for your baby to help him grow, thrive and have the best immunities he can. There is so much artificial crap and chemicals in formula too. I would never put a mom down who is not able to bf for whatever reason but I am hoping that I will be able to bf my little guy with no issues because I truly believe it is the best thing for him. 
I know that it is going to be exhausting at first because I am going to be the only one who can feed him but I plan to get a bassinet that attaches to the side of the bed so I am not needing to get up and out of bed for every night time feeding and my hubby will chip in with diaper changes. Once the baby is a bit older I can start pumping and my hubby can give him a bottle, which will be a break for me and bonding for daddy and baby.
 Also breast milk is free and you don't have to mess around with measuring and making formula for multiple night time feeds every night, you can just pop baby on the breast.

I loved Breast feeding my daughter although because of allergies in her I wasn't able to continue past 2 months. I loved that I never had to pack bottles or formula, her meal was always ready for her wherever and whenever. No stumbling to the kitchen in the middle of the night to make bottles. No waiting for the formula to get warm enough. I loved it. Only con I had was I couldn't take a break from baby because I was her food source. This time I don't care. I'm gonna Brest feed for as long as we can.

It can be a challenge to get started, but if you stick to it and get in a groove it'll be great! So many benefits to you and baby and cheap LOL. The one thing I found challenging was people not minding their own business and being told to go sit facing the corner to breastfeed :(

Be patient.   Seek help from the lactation nurse... you will face some ups and downs.   Cracked,  sore nipples... engorgement, etc... it's downright painful at the start in many ways, but then you're a pro and the pain sibsides.  I found it very relaxing.  Used to fall asleep during feedings.   Super convenient.  Not fumbling with bottles, mixing formula,  heating bottles, cleaning bottles,  etc.  Plus you burn so many more calories and bounce back to your pre-pregnancy weight in no time.  Loved snuggling and bonding with my girls.  So incredibly wonderful!  Be prepared for some pain in the beginning.   Once u get the hang,  it's a breeze!
