Which birth control works best??

So for the past year, me && my bf have been having unprotected sex. We've tried using condoms, but it's just something we don't do too often. I don't want to have any babies right now(even though he's all for it) && I definitely don't believe in abortion, so I'm considering birth control to prevent getting pregnant as long as possible. But k don't know anything about birth control. Any suggestions??
