Who was prescribed a glucose machine?

I went in and failed the 2 hours glucose after the fruit punch drink so my worse fear came when they prescribed me the glucose machine. NO MEDICATION OR INSULIN...just the machine so I'm great full for that, I guess it wasn't that high. I have instructions to follow what I can and can't eat down to writing down the numbers after the scheduled time of meals. I'm sure it's going to be hard but I'll do it for my baby boy. Is anyone else doing the same?? How do you do it?

Sorry to say this because it sucks to be all of us lol but I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with this bullshit. Mine started with just a pricker like yours but now I have to use insulin every night before bed 😢 it's really not bad but I hate poking myself 5 times a day. I have to test in the morning, and an hour after breakfast, lunch and dinner and then inject the insulin before bed. Suuuuuucks. But my endocrinologist is one of the best around when it comes to GD, he refuses to use the pill form in pregnancy because there hasn't been enough studies that prove the insulin doesn't pass to the baby, but with the injection it's been proven time and time again that it doesn't affect the baby or pass through the placenta ! Just a little good for thought in case any of you have to use insulin in the future.

Pretty sure I'll have to do it, I probably failed the 3 hour this morning.  😔  but that's ok, I'd rather have all the information and tools to keep baby healthy than to keep going and not know.

I failed my 3 hour and have to do this too. I prick four times. Before breakfast, after breakfast, after lunch, and after dinner. My instructions state that the meter should read between 60 - 89 after fasting, and below 130 one hour after meals. So far I've managed to maintain my glucose with meal management. I was given a budget by my nutritionist on what I can eat per meal, for example 2 servings protein, 1 serving starch etc. she also enclosed a manual with serving sizes to help with portion control. Her biggest advice was sticking to the budget of foods and a pretty regular eating schedule. Space out meals and snacks about 3 hours apart to be able to eat all day but allow my body time to process glucose. Also take walks after meals!!

Mine will be called in soon, failed on Monday. The appt with the diabetes education team is after thanksgiving.  I'm wondering if I was over just enough for them to make them say I am. They said I would start by using the machine, than if I can't get it under control than I will have to have medicine or insulin.   Also found out this can cause a larger baby.
